And They're Off

(published in NFG Issue 4)

"...so the purpose is to judge the ability of different trainers without the variable of the horse?"
"Correct. We clone eight copies of Secretariat, and give the eight foals to eight trainers. In two years they will be ready to race. Training and environment, not breeding, will be measured."

"Don't worry, we'll be ready," chorused Willie One through Willie Eight.

Purification

(published in NFG Issue 5)

"The abomination of one-sneezers and two-sneezers may, at last, be eradicatied from the human genome." Dr. Chu preened as he directed his assistants in their examination of the new-born genetically engineered baby.
Someone yelled, "Up with three-sneezers!"
Dr. Chu glared, then grinned. He puffed pepper onto the baby's crinkled nose. The team held their breath.
"Achoo! Achoo! Achoo!" The team cheered and slapped backs.
The baby's face contorted. "Achoo!"

Success

ob joined her at the window. They stared out over the calm, bluewater of Lake Geneva.
"So, Bob what do we do now?"
